This Canada section of our Good School Guide has details of over 80 English language schools and university language centers all over Canada.

Inclusion in the Guide is by recommendation, and we generally list only those schools which are members of one of Canada's national professional associations:

- for public universities and colleges, CSLP, the Council of Second Language Programs in Canada;

- for private language schools, either CAPLS (Canadian Association of Private Language Schools), or PELSA (Private English Language Schools Association).

How to find a school
|
|
There are four ways to search for a school in the Guide: |
- Keyword Search: use the search box in the left side panel to enter one or more keywords: all schools in the Canada section will be searched.
- Browse by Province: Click one of the Canadian provinces on the left to browse an A-Z list of all schools in that province. You can click the province by name or on the map.
- List all schools: browse the A-Z list of over 80 schools in Canada, with 30 schools listed on each page.
- Advanced Search: use this detailed search page to look for particular locations, courses, examinations, facilities or other features.

| Below is English Forum's current selection of recommended schools in Canada. This short-list changes from time to time and includes both private language schools and public universities and colleges. |

Algonquin College (Nepean, Ontario): Located in Nepean, a suburb of Ottawa, Algonquin College offers a good variety of ESL courses including General English, English for Academic Studies, TOEFL Preparation and Business English. Students live with host families or in the College residence. |

Columbia College (Vancouver, British Columbia): The English Language Centre at Columbia College is a very modern school in downtown Vancouver with a wide range of courses for students and teachers. Courses offered include Intensive English and Cambridge Exam Preparation. Situated on the West Coast, Vancouver offers spectacular views of the ocean, mountains and surrounding islands. Students live with host families. |

Global Village - The Language Workshop (Toronto, Ontario): A private language school in the heart of downtown Toronto, the largest city in Canada. The newly renovated school offers students a good choice of courses and an excellent urban experience: world-class sports, theatre, shopping, dining and nightlife. Students can live with host families. |

Tamwood International College: English Schools for adults and Summer Camps for juniors (8-18) in Vancouver (British Columbia), Whistler (British Columbia) and London (Ontario). The Vancouver school is a medium-sized serious school for adults, with very high standards and a personal approach. Courses include Intensive and Semi-Intensive English, Internship Program, Business English and TOEFL. The Whistler school features English plus skiing/snowboarding with professional instructors. |

Aspect International Language Schools (Toronto, Ontario): ): A modern private language school in downtown Toronto, situated on Bloor Street, the city's trendy shopping, restaurant and cafe hub. Courses offered include General English, TOEFL Preparations, Cambridge Exam Preparation and Business English. Students live with host families or in apartments. |

International Language Institute (Halifax, Nova Scotia): Located in downtown Halifax, just a few minutes away from the waterfront and Dalhousie University. ILI offers courses including General English, TOEFL Preparation, Cambridge Exam Preparation, Business English and Teacher Training (Cambridge CELTA). Students live with host families. |

Language Studies Canada (LSC) (Toronto, Ontario): Another good Toronto school. LSC is the oldest private language school in Canada and offers a wide range of options, including General English, Cambridge Exam Preparation and Business English. Students live with host families, in residences or in apartment-hotels. |

University of Calgary (Calgary, Alberta): Large modern university campus in a city renowned for its warm "Western Hospitality." Calgary is located near beautiful Banff and the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The University offers courses in General English courses for adults, and Teacher Training courses are also available. Students live with host families or on the university campus. |

University of British Columbia (UBC) (Vancouver, British Columbia): Located close to downtown Vancouver, UBC is one of the largest and most highly rated universities in Canada. The university's English Language Institute has first-class facilities and offers courses in General English and University Preparation.

YMCA International College (Vancouver, British Columbia): This language school is located in downtown Vancouver, only one block away from Robson Street, the city's main shopping and tourist area. Courses offered include General English, TOEFL Preparation, Cambridge Exam Preparation and Business English. Students live with host families, in shared apartments, youth hostels or in the YMCA Hotel Residence. |
